Serra del Corno Brewery: Tradition and Passion in the Heart of the Modenese Apennines
In the picturesque landscape of the Modenese Apennines, in Missano di Zocca, stands the Serra del Corno Brewery, a young artisanal reality founded in 2021. The brewery was born within the Gabriella Righetti Farm with a clear and passionate goal: to enhance locally grown barley and transform it into beers that are an authentic expression of the culture and tradition of the territory.
The name Serra del Corno is inspired by the distinctive calanco that overlooks the surrounding crops. Calanchi are erosive formations typical of the clayey soils of the Apennines, natural elements that give the landscape a unique and fascinating appearance, a perfect reflection of the spirit that animates the brewery.
A range of artisanal beers with local roots
Behind every production is the expert hand of Davide Baraccani, who created four original labels inspired by the Modenese dialect and the female figure, symbolizing strength, tradition, and character:
-
SPÃPPLA: A light barley and wheat beer, in the WEISS style, with an alcohol content of about 4°. On the palate emerge delicate notes of ripe banana. The name, which recalls the little bird 'spioncello,' represents a young, cheerful, and spontaneous woman, ironic in her way of valuing herself without presumption.
-
ZITÃLA: Slightly opalescent, this beer is inspired by the BLANCHE style, with an alcohol content around 4.3°. It offers an aromatic profile with a delicate note of orange. In the local dialect, 'Zitéla' refers to an unmarried woman of advanced age, temperamentally cantankerous but an integral part of popular tradition.
-
BRAGHÃRA: A pale barley-only beer, in the LAGER style, with 4.8° alcohol. The name refers to a curious and gossipy woman, famous in the dialect as someone who âhas something to say to everyone,â carrying a lively and engaging character.
-
REZDÃRA: An amber beer, produced with only barley malt, with about 5° alcohol content. The 'Rezdóra' is a central figure in Modenese culture: the woman, mother or grandmother, who âholdsâ the house, guardian of ancient knowledge and culinary traditions passed down from generation to generation.
Serra del Corno Brewery proposes itself as an example of how craft beer can tell a story made of ties with the territory, passion for quality, and respect for cultural roots. The care in choosing raw materials, coming directly from the adjacent fields, and the attention to artisanal processing make this brewery a must-see for those who want to discover the best of hidden and genuine Italy.
Located at Via Tezza 3184, 41059 Zocca (MO), the brewery welcomes visitors and enthusiasts eager to immerse themselves in an authentic setting, between nature and tradition, where every sip is a journey into the history and culture of Modena.
