Brasseria del Matese: Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of the National Park
In the enchanting setting of the Matese National Park, in Cusano Mutri, Brasseria del Matese was born, a craft brewery that skillfully combines a passion for tradition with the desire to explore new frontiers of taste. Founded in 2019 by Marino Di Gennaro, the Brasseria is the result of a long journey that began in 2005, inspired by a trip to Cologne that sparked Marino’s interest in deepening his knowledge of brewing art.
The Brewery’s Philosophy: Local Ingredients and Artisan Quality
What sets Brasseria del Matese apart is the rigorous attention to every production detail, with a special focus on local ingredients. The pure water, sourced from the crystalline springs of Matese, combined with selected malts and regional hops, gives the beers a unique character, rich in intense aromas and enveloping body. This close bond with the territory is reflected in every sip, which becomes a true sensory experience.
Highlights include:
- Use of natural and uncontaminated water from the Matese mountains
- Barley malt grown and malted in Puglia
- Selected hops sourced from Sannio
- Chestnut honey from Matese, a key ingredient in some recipes
Brasseria creatively interprets the classic styles of European brewing tradition, enriching them with an Italian touch through the inclusion of ingredients from the national agricultural supply chain. Production includes both a stable line and seasonal beers, which vary depending on the availability of fresh ingredients and the desire to experiment. Among these stand out the 'Silhouwet', a Sannio Wet Hop born in collaboration with the Cuoremalto brewery, and the fruit beers, featuring notes of local grapes for an IGA with a strong and original character.
A Place of Culture and Conviviality
Beyond being a laboratory for exceptional beers, Brasseria del Matese is a true reference point for enthusiasts and the curious of the brewing world. Marino welcomes visitors with professionalism and warmth, offering guided tastings and organizing cultural events that enhance the knowledge and tradition of the territory. The Brasseria thus becomes a meeting, exchange, and learning place, where every visit turns into an opportunity to discover stories, flavors, and passions.
A young, creative project deeply connected to its territory, Brasseria del Matese tells the identity and uniqueness of Matese through its beers, establishing itself as a prominent figure in the landscape of Italian microbreweries.
