Saragiolino Brewery: the excellence of Tuscan farm beer
The Saragiolino Brewery, located in Torrita di Siena in a picturesque rural area of Tuscany, is a unique example of artisanal production that combines peasant tradition and innovation. Founded in 2015 by brothers Lorenzo and Andrea Crociani, the brewery stems from a long family history linked to agriculture, which is reflected in every stage of production. Already in 2012, before the official start of the business, the brothers undertook an intense effort to enhance the land through organic methods, aiming for a fully sustainable and superior quality supply chain.
Saragiolino’s peculiarity is its short supply chain: barley and wheat are delivered directly from their own fields to the brewery, where they are transformed into malt without intermediaries. This virtuous cycle allows freshness and authenticity to remain intact in the beers, distinctive elements in the landscape of Italian craft productions. The plant, with a capacity of 6 hectoliters and 12-hectoliter fermenters, reached an annual production of 500 hectoliters in 2018, confirming exponential growth and the increasing demand for its creations.
Quality craft beers and environmental sustainability
The range offered by Saragiolino is varied, but all beers share some common characteristics: they are unfiltered and unpasteurized, preserving natural sediments that enhance their integrity. Among these stands out the Saragiolino Belgian Ale, an amber beer with orange highlights that wins over with its sweet and fruity aromatic profile, with hints of honey. On the palate, it surprises with warm notes of malt, banana, and ripe pear, finishing with a delicate bitterness enriched by a light fragrance of dried fruit. This beer pairs perfectly with:
- Aged and blue cheeses
- Roasts and stews
- Fruit tarts
Besides beer production, the brewery offers a welcoming space where visitors can taste their creations directly, accompanied by selected Tuscan cured meats and cheeses from local producers. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in an authentic sensory experience, discovering original pairings and genuine flavors in the heart of the Sienese countryside.
Attention to environmental sustainability is another key element of the Saragiolino project: the electricity used comes exclusively from photovoltaic panels, while thermal energy is self-produced through a wood-fired system. These ecological choices demonstrate constant commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting a responsible production model, perfectly integrated with the territory.
Saragiolino Brewery thus embodies a modern approach rooted in tradition, made of passion, respect for nature, and artisanal care, delivering to craft beer enthusiasts a product that tells the story of Tuscany through taste and sustainability.
