Retorto Brewery: Artisanal Excellence in the Heart of Podenzano
Retorto Brewery was founded in 2011 in Podenzano, in the province of Piacenza, born from the passion and commitment of Marcello Ceresa alongside his siblings Monica and Davide. In just a few years, this brewery has earned a prominent position in the Italian craft beer scene, standing out for its quality, creativity, and a production capable of satisfying even the most demanding palates.
The name “Retorto” is inspired by a picturesque village in the upper Val Nure, evoking the idea of a small kingdom dedicated to quality beer. The ironic and distinctive logo depicts a king, symbolizing the innovative spirit and unique character that distinguish every beer produced.
Quality, Variety, and Experimentation
Retorto Brewery is characterized by a careful selection of raw materials and a constant search for balance and flavors that make each beer a unique experience. Among the most appreciated labels are:
- Morning Glory: an American Pale Ale with a bold and aromatic character, perfect for those seeking a fresh yet complex beer.
- Daughter of Autumn: a Strong Scotch Ale that carries the intensity and Scottish tradition, ideal for lovers of fuller profiles.
- Krakatoa: a Red IPA that combines intensity and enveloping aromas, with a perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness.
- Malalingua: a full-bodied Barley Wine offering warm and embracing notes.
- Latte Più: a light and refreshing Blanche, perfect for carefree moments.
The brewery does not limit itself to traditional production but also focuses on innovation through constant experimentation. An example is 'Acqua Passata', a liqueur born from combining beer with medicinal plants and spices, available both neat and mixed for original and sophisticated cocktails. Furthermore, aging in barrique and tonneaux has given life to beers with an even more complex character such as 'Bloody Mario', 'Malanima', 'Succo di Suocera', 'Mia W.', and 'Marsellus W.'.
Since 2019, the FASE project offers “one shot” beers exclusively on tap, providing a limited and unrepeatable tasting experience designed for true craft beer enthusiasts and the curious.
Locally, Retorto Brewery is also a meeting place for craft beer lovers: at the outlet on Via Achille Grandi 10 in Podenzano, it is possible to purchase all the references, discover new releases, and engage with those who work every day to uphold the banner of quality Italian beer. Opening hours favor weekday access and Saturday afternoons, thus offering a concrete and welcoming point of reference.
With numerous national and international awards, Retorto confirms its leading position among the best Italian microbreweries, combining tradition and innovation to tell a story of authentic taste and deeply rooted local values with every bottle.
