Zago Agricultural Brewery: the excellence of Italian craft beer
Located in Chions, in the province of Pordenone, Zago Agricultural Brewery is one of the most authentic and well-established players in the Italian craft beer scene. Founded in 1978 by Mario Chiaradia, the brewery has maintained a strong agricultural identity over time, directly cultivating barley and hops on its lands in Taiedo. This choice allows Zago to control the entire production chain, combining tradition and quality at every stage, from raw material to bottle.
The quality of Zago’s beers is further enhanced by the use of spring water, famous for its purity and ideal for brewing, sourced directly from the area where the Villotta di Chions facility stands. A combination of natural elements and artisanal expertise that brings to life distinctive products, appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
Zago Beers: tradition and innovation in a bottle
The brewery offers a range of top-fermented beers, all bottle-conditioned, with an alcohol content kept under 8%, to ensure freshness and drinkability. The labels carry stories and imagery linked to landscapes, traditions, and beer cultures, evoking atmospheres that traverse Italy and Europe. Among the most beloved beers are:
- IPA: amber, with a persistent body and citrus notes, at 5.5% vol.
- Italiana: ale with a full flavor, fresh and thirst-quenching, at 5% alcohol.
- Golden Ale: golden beer inspired by Belgian styles, soft and rounded, at 6%.
- Bianca: slightly opalescent blonde, fruity and refreshing, at 5%.
- Scotch Ale: ruby-colored, with a prolonged and intense taste, bottle-conditioned, 8% vol.
- Strong Ale: copper-colored and robust, a Belgian ale with a strong character, 7% vol.
Recently, Zago has expanded its offer with the 'Exclusive Selection – Venezia' line, a collection of six beers dedicated to the sestieri of the lagoon city. This series, developed exclusively for the HORECA channel, combines creativity and technique with labels that glow in the dark, a spectacular tribute to the magic of Venice.
The production process is characterized by the philosophy of “live” beers, which are neither pasteurized nor micro-filtered, to preserve authentic taste and natural digestibility. Bottle-conditioning with selected yeasts and natural sugars develops a fine carbonation and a complex aromatic profile, making every sip a unique experience.
For enthusiasts who wish to discover the production heart of the brewery up close, it is possible to visit the Villotta di Chions facility with guided tours that reveal the secrets and passion behind each beer. Additionally, the shop at the Via A. Malignani headquarters offers the opportunity to purchase all the products directly, to take home a piece of this artisanal excellence.
Zago Agricultural Brewery stands out for the perfect combination of a strong rural tradition and a constant commitment to quality and innovation, interpreting beer with an authentic identity able to tell the richness of the Italian territory.
