Birrificio del Ducato: Excellence in Italian Craft Beer
Birrificio del Ducato, located in Soragna, in the beautiful province of Parma, represents one of the most influential and appreciated realities in the Italian craft beer scene. Founded in 2007 thanks to the vision and passion of Giovanni Campari and Manuel Piccoli, this brewery has distinguished itself by skillfully combining tradition, innovation, and the pursuit of quality.
With more than 130 medals won in international competitions, Birrificio del Ducato holds the prestigious title of the most awarded Italian brewery worldwide. This extraordinary achievement is the result of a meticulous and attentive production philosophy, which places particular emphasis on the selection of raw materials.
Quality and Selected Raw Materials
The raw materials used are imported directly from beer-producing countries with a great tradition such as France, England, and Germany, with special attention to the terroir of origin. This contributes to giving the beers a unique and recognizable character, always linked to the rigor in the choice of ingredients.
Birrificio del Ducato’s beers are unpasteurized and bottle-conditioned, two key processes to guarantee an authentic, lively product with a deep flavor. Another distinctive element is aging in wood: many productions are aged in oak barrels, a detail that imparts tertiary aromas typical of great wine excellences.
Signature Beers and International Expansion
Among the most famous labels are:
- Via Emilia: a bright pilsner with a fresh and balanced aroma, symbolizing simplicity and quality;
- Verdi Imperial Stout: a dark and complex beer with roasted notes and a slightly spicy finish, awarded gold at the 2008 European Beer Star;
- A.F.O.: a pale ale that combines exotic hop aromas with the enveloping sweetness of malts;
- Wedding Rauch: inspired by the famous smoked beers of Bamberg, with a bold and intensely aromatic character.
Since 2016, the brewery has started a collaboration with the Belgian group Duvel Moortgat, which completed the acquisition in 2020. Despite this, Birrificio del Ducato firmly retains its identity and its commitment to maintaining high-quality standards, continuing to export to countries such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, Spain, and Japan.
