Centolitri Microbrewery: Craft Excellence in the Heart of Umbria
In the lush heart of Umbria, in Baschi, Centolitri Microbrewery was born, a craft project dedicated since 2013 to producing high-quality beers, deeply rooted in local tradition yet with an innovative spirit. Founded by Maurizio Caiello, master brewer and passionate connoisseur of brewing art, Centolitri has the distinction of being the first microbrewery in the province of Terni, bringing a breath of freshness and originality to the Umbrian beer scene.
The story of Centolitri originates from intense passion, fueled by a trip to Belgium, the true cradle of classic craft beers. Maurizio transformed this inspiration into a concrete journey, building the production system with his own hands and dedicating himself to rigorous experiments during weekends. The name 'Centolitri' refers precisely to the initial volume of beer produced, symbolizing a small reality with an ambitious spirit.
Authentic Beers, Territory and Innovation
Nestled among the Umbrian hills, the brewery takes advantage of a precious natural element: the pure and crystal-clear water of the area, a fundamental ingredient to guarantee the final quality of every beer. Production follows traditional methods, with high-temperature fermentation, without filtration or pasteurization, and maturation at controlled temperatures that preserve the genuineness and typical aromas of each type. Carbonation takes place through bottle refermentation, giving the beers high digestibility and a rich, authentic taste.
Centolitri’s production stands out for limited but refined artisanal quality, with beers that tell the culture and flavors of Umbria. The products range from classic styles to more innovative creations, such as the Italian Grape Ale — the result of the union between barley malt and local grape must, like Grechetto.
Among the most notable labels:
-
Anima: an American Pale Ale with a bold character, featuring balsamic notes of bay leaf and citrus resins, enriched by a malt and honey aftertaste. Inspired by the rhythm of jazz, it is a lively and engaging beer.
-
Eros: a Belgian Triple of light amber color, with a soft and balanced taste, and a sweet-fruity aftertaste in perfect harmony with Belgian tradition.
-
Clandestina: an Italian Grape Ale that blends barley malt with Grechetto grape must, creating an aromatic bouquet reminiscent of the scents of our land’s wines.
-
Granada: a fruit beer made with pomegranate juice and seeds, offering a citrusy and slightly tart flavor, with an almond aftertaste and a spicy finish with hints of wild berries.
Centolitri embraces a philosophy of continuous experimentation and research, maintaining deep respect for tradition and Made in Italy. Each beer is a personal story combining technique, experience, and love for the territory.
The company also offers tastings and guided tours, allowing enthusiasts to discover the secrets of production and savor the beers directly at their birthplace. Direct sales guarantee customers bring home a fresh, authentic product born of true craftsmanship.
In a land rich in history and flavors, Centolitri stands out as one of the cornerstones of the Italian brewing movement, capable of uniting tradition, passion, and innovation in every sip.
