Doppiobaffo: the art of craft beer in the heart of Lombardy
Located in Chignolo Po, a charming village between Pavia, Lodi, and Piacenza, Doppiobaffo is a craft microbrewery that embodies passion and innovation in the world of Italian beer. Founded in 2007 by Mauro Ceci and Giampiero Anselmi, Doppiobaffo was born from a love of homebrewing, an activity that started as simple home experiments and from the desire to share unique beers with friends and family. Over the years, this recipe workshop evolved into a professional reality, obtaining the “beer firm” license in 2013, which opened the doors to large-scale production and commercialization. The real qualitative leap came in 2019, with the inauguration of the company-owned brewery, followed in 2021 by the opening of the attached brewpub, an ideal meeting place for enthusiasts.
Doppiobaffo’s production facility is designed to combine efficiency and quality. The brewhouse features two 12-hectoliter mash tuns, while the fermentation cellar hosts six 24-hectoliter fermenters and one 48-hectoliter fermenter. This setup allows an annual production capacity of 250,000 liters. The isobaric bottling line can package up to 1,200 bottles per hour, with scrupulous attention to preservation and freshness maintenance thanks to a refrigerated storage cell capable of holding 60 pallet spaces. Furthermore, thanks to efficient agreements with transport companies, Doppiobaffo beers are delivered throughout Italy under temperature control within 48 hours.
Beers with a unique character and an authentic tasting experience
Doppiobaffo’s beers stand out for their well-defined personality, inspired by real or imaginary figures that tell stories of life, tradition, and genuine spirit. Among the most appreciated labels:
- Giacomina: a Golden Ale with a bold and straightforward character, like a woman of few words but who speaks her mind.
- Angiuleto: American IPA dedicated to the generous and talkative uncle, rich in intense aromas and loved by hop beer enthusiasts.
- Rodica: Oatmeal Stout that evokes the strength and determination of the family caregiver.
- Maia: sweet and enveloping Bock, made with local chestnut honey, bringing the territory directly into the glass.
- Silvana: Weiss brewed with Carnaroli rice, a tribute to local agricultural excellence.
- Nina Rosé and Nina Blanc: sparkling Italian Grape Ales, made respectively with Malvasia and Barbera grape musts, for those seeking something sophisticated and original.
The brewpub presents itself as a welcoming, young, and dynamic place, with a large window separating the public area from the brewery, allowing direct observation of the production process. The menu is designed to satisfy the whole family and offers gastronomic specialties inspired by beer, such as the Calypso beer-roasted spring chicken, the Doppiobaffo burger with beer sauce, and the special “birramisù.” The venue is fully accessible and offers numerous services, including take-away, credit card payments, and free Wi-Fi, making every visit practical and comfortable.
Doppiobaffo is not just a microbrewery but a continuously growing reality that focuses on enhancing local excellences and the authentic experience of Italian craft beer, capable of winning over anyone who loves discovering original flavors and true stories behind every sip.
