Oltrepò Brewery: Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of Oltrepò Pavese
Founded in 2014 by a group of friends with a deep passion for craft beer and the territory of Oltrepò Pavese, the Oltrepò Brewery today represents a solid and dynamic presence in the Italian craft beer scene. Recently, it took an important step forward by moving its production to a new and modern facility in Pavia, at Via Giuseppe Saragat 13. This plant, operational since December 2023, is equipped with a 10-hectoliter brewhouse and a cellar with a total capacity of 16,000 liters. Thanks to this state-of-the-art structure, the brewery has been able to increase its annual production to about 100,000 liters, thereby consolidating its role as a leading player in the Italian brewing scene.
A Strong Connection with the Territory and Local Traditions
The true strength of Oltrepò Brewery lies in the meticulous attention to the quality of its ingredients, most of which come from the surrounding territory. It uses excellent local raw materials such as chestnut honey harvested in the Valverde woods and the highlands of Oltrepò Pavese, as well as precious Pinot Noir grape must. This deep bond with nature and local traditions gives the brewery’s beers a unique and distinctive character.
The most famous beers fully express this territorial and artisanal spirit. Among them stands out the Castana, a double malt with great personality, awarded prestigious national and international recognitions, including medals at the Birra dell’Anno and the Brussels Beer Challenge. Alongside Castana, Oltrepò Brewery offers a varied and original range of beers, including:
- Taraxa: a Saison flavored with dandelion honey and pepper, with a fresh and spicy taste.
- Astuta: a sweet Stout enriched with honeydew honey, ideal for those seeking a soft and intense beer.
In 2022 the brewery took another step by expanding its portfolio with the acquisition of the Birrificio Pavese brand. This operation allowed for the relaunch of historic productions such as Bliss Summer Ale, Mayflower APA, and the gluten-free Trip Hop Session IPA. These products are aimed at a young and international audience, offering fresh, easy-to-drink beers suitable for all occasions.
Another characteristic aspect of Oltrepò Brewery is its philosophy of collaboration with local pubs. By offering beers with territorial exclusivity, the brewery supports the identity of each venue and creates an authentic and direct relationship with consumers. This approach enhances both the product and the place where it is served, turning every pint into an experience to remember.
Combining quality, innovation, and respect for the territory, Oltrepò Brewery continues to grow and bring its vision of craft beer ever further, representing an example of Italian excellence in the world of beer.
