Bibibir: the heart of craft beer in Abruzzo
Located in the picturesque setting of Castellalto, in the province of Teramo, Birrificio Bibibir has established itself as an essential reference point for craft beer enthusiasts in Abruzzo. Founded in 2014 from the passion and experience of Flaviano Brandi, a former homebrewer who transformed years of home experimentation into a professional project, Bibibir today represents a perfect blend of tradition and innovation in the Italian brewing world.
The identity of the brewery is strongly linked to its focus on Belgian tradition, which has always been a source of inspiration for its productions. Bibibir stands out for its 20-hectoliter direct flame system, handmade following the standards of typical Belgian plants, a symbol of quality and artisanal care. This unique system allows the production of beers with a well-defined style and personality, maximizing the value of every single ingredient.
Beers with character and attention to detail
Bibibir's production stands at about 1,800 hectoliters annually, with a cellar capacity of 280 hectoliters—significant numbers that testify to steady growth without compromising artisanal quality. The brewery offers a range of beers spanning different types, enhancing both top-fermentation styles, such as Belgian Blonde Ale and Standard-Ordinary Bitter, and bottom-fermentation styles, like the classic Pilsner.
Among Bibibir’s strengths is its production process, which includes long maturation phases of about 40 days. No filters, centrifuges, or artificial clarifiers are used, ensuring a product as pure and authentic as possible, rich in intense and complex flavors. Enthusiasts can thus enjoy beers with a strong character, fragrant and authentic, perfect for every occasion.
In addition to production, Bibibir organizes cultural events and tastings that allow a full immersion into the craft beer culture. In 2024, the tenth anniversary was celebrated with an event featuring guided tours, live music, and many activities designed to engage both enthusiasts and newcomers.
Those wishing to try these beers can order directly from the brewery’s online shop. Among the most appreciated references are 23ZEROSEI, a Double IPA characterized by a high alcohol content and intense hopping, and NON CI VEDO PIÙ, an Imperial Stout with toasted notes of cocoa, vanilla, and licorice. Two examples of how Bibibir knows how to combine creativity and technique to offer products that speak to both the palate and the heart of beer lovers.
Bibibir thus confirms itself as a dynamic and distinctive reality in the Italian microbrewery scene, capable of naturally combining the passion for brewing tradition with the desire to experiment with new horizons of flavor.
