The Birrificio dell'AltaVia, located at Via Tecci 14 in Quiliano, is a benchmark in the Ligurian craft beer scene. Founded in 2016 by a group of passionate friends, it has established itself as the first farm brewery in the region, standing out for the direct cultivation of barley and hops, essential ingredients for producing its authentic and high-quality beers.
In 2022, the relocation of production to Quiliano marked an important turning point. Here, thanks to larger spaces and particularly soft water, ideal for brewing, the brewery was able to further raise the quality standards of its productions. Another distinctive element is the beekeeping, which allows the use of honey produced directly by the company in some exclusive beers, such as Valleggina, an apricot beer highly appreciated for its unique and enveloping taste.
The Beers and the Philosophy Behind Them
Birrificio dell'AltaVia’s beer range spans from low fermentation to high fermentation; each label is a small journey into the history and traditions of Liguria. Among the most well-known and beloved productions are:
- Badani Pils: a pale beer with a fresh and herbal character, perfect for those who enjoy a bold yet balanced flavor.
- Scau: a rauchbier made with smoked malt according to the tradition of the kilns of Calizzano and Murialdo, capable of evoking rustic and unmistakable flavors.
- Valleggina: an innovative beer made with apricot and honey, the result of a synergy between agricultural cultivation and craft production.
The close connection with the territory is reflected not only in the ingredients but also in the production choices, philosophy, and attention to detail that characterize every single beer. The commitment to quality is evidenced by the awards received, such as the prestigious third place in the 'Brewer of the Year' award and the recognition of the Chiocciola in the Slow Food Italian Beer Guide.
In addition to production, Birrificio dell'AltaVia opens the doors of its Via Tecci premises, offering visitors the chance to take part in guided tours and tastings. An engaging experience that allows you to discover the production process, the selected raw materials, and to savor the different beers in a welcoming and familiar atmosphere. Furthermore, it is regularly present at the Savona Civic Market, a true meeting point for craft beer enthusiasts.
