La Fortezza Brewery: Passion and Tradition in Civitella del Tronto
The La Fortezza Brewery, located in the picturesque setting of Civitella del Tronto, in the province of Teramo, is an authentic example of excellence in the Italian craft beer scene. Founded in 2015 by two friends and partners, Antonio Di Giosia and Paolo Scarpantoni, both graduates in Nutritional Biology, this brewery was born from a shared dream during their university years, turning a passion into a tangible reality.
A production process that enhances the territory
One of the distinctive features of La Fortezza Brewery is the use of water sourced from local springs, which imparts the beers with a unique aroma and taste, deeply connected to the Abruzzo region. The production plant, entirely owned by the brewery, consists of:
- a 600-liter brewhouse heated by direct flame, allowing careful control over the brewing process;
- a fermentation and maturation cellar with a capacity of about 6000 liters, ideal for ensuring optimal beer conditioning.
The attention to detail in the selection of raw materials and traditional processing methods, without the use of preservatives or additives, reflects the brewery’s mission: to produce high-quality beers aimed at a demanding audience who love niche artisanal products.
A fresh and international range of beers
La Fortezza’s catalogue is both varied and refined, with recipes inspired by different international brewing traditions, yet always rooted in care for innovation and local identity. Among the most appreciated beers are:
- Saison POV, flavored with a mix of aromatic herbs such as thyme, mint, and sage, delivering enveloping freshness.
- Tripel Rosafante, a complex and intense beer, winning over for its balance and structure.
- Blanche Lady in the Water, a blanche with a soft and fragrant character.
- Cougar Belgian Strong Ale, a tribute to traditional Belgian ales with very high alcohol content yet well balanced.
- For lovers of British and American-style beers, standouts are the Shock Wave Imperial IPA and the Kiss me I’m Black Oatmeal Stout, characterized by bold aromas and a robust body.
- Particularly original is the Dirty Purple, a 7% Italian Grape Ale with the addition of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grape must, which celebrates the territory and links the beer to local wine culture.
Located at Frazione San Reparata 12, La Fortezza Brewery is now recognized not only as a producer of prominent craft beers but also as a reference point for those wishing to discover the authentic and creative soul of Italian beer, capable of combining scientific expertise, love for nature, and continuous experimentation.
