'A Magara Brewery: the Calabrian craft beer that tells the story of the territory
The 'A Magara Brewery, located in Nocera Terinese in the province of Catanzaro, is one of the most interesting and dynamic realities in the Calabrian craft beer scene. Founded in 2013 by Eraldo Corti, an experienced brewer with a long career behind him, and Marco Ferrini, a young agronomist and agricultural entrepreneur, this brewery was born from the combination of passion, expertise, and enhancement of local resources.
The project was developed within the Fangiano Farm, an agricultural company that not only produces olive oil, table olives, and preserves typical of the territory but has also decided to expand its range to include craft beer production. This close connection with agriculture allows the brewery to use high-quality raw materials, carefully selected, among which stands out the Calabrian soft wheat used in the production of some beers. This deep bond with the territory is reflected in every sip of 'A Magara’s beers, which tell stories of tradition, nature, and innovation.
A range of craft beers for all tastes
The brewery's production stands out for its variety and originality, going beyond classic interpretations thanks to creativity and attention in the choice of ingredients. Among the pale beers are:
- Trupija: a sweet saison spiced with the addition of aromatic herbs;
- Jumara: a fresh and pleasant pale ale;
- Trilla: a hefeweizen that expresses the full delicacy of the yeast.
The amber beers, with a decisive and enveloping character, include:
- Mericana: an IPA with an intense and aromatic taste;
- Riulì: a balanced and full-bodied American Amber.
For those who love more robust flavors, 'A Magara offers two dark beers full of personality:
- Magarìa: a full-bodied and complex porter;
- Mìerula: an intense imperial stout rich in nuances.
There are also more original products such as the Frambueza, a raspberry-flavored fruit beer, and the delicate SaisonSaison, made with Calabrian soft wheat, which uniquely combines tradition and innovation.
The quality of 'A Magara beers is recognized both nationally and internationally. The Magarìa has been included in the Slow Food guide as a 'great beer,' the Mìerula won the silver medal at the Brussels Beer Challenge, while the SaisonSaison took third place in the Saison category at the Barcelona Beer Challenge, confirming excellence and the ability to innovate while maintaining a strong connection to the territory.
With 'A Magara, Calabria is increasingly establishing itself as a land of quality craft beers, where care for raw materials and passion for artisanal production give life to unique beers that represent the cultural and natural richness of the region.
