Akudunniad: Passion and Tradition in the Heart of Lacedonia
Akudunniad is a craft brewery founded in 2021 in Lacedonia, in the province of Avellino. The story of this project is rooted in the deep friendship and passion for beer shared by Fausto Franciosi and Antonio Tommasiello. After years of experimentation and training at the Academy of Professions in Padua, the two friends turned a shared passion into a tangible reality, offering the local area and its beer enthusiasts products of the highest quality with a strong connection to the territory.
The name Akudunniad, which means “stork mother” in the language of the ancient Osci, is a tribute to the historical traditions of Lacedonia and is represented in the brewery’s logo by a stylized stork whose body resembles the shape of a hop, symbolizing the very essence of craft beer.
Quality, Territory, and Innovation in Akudunniad Beers
What makes Akudunniad unique is the meticulous attention to the quality of the ingredients and production methods. The brewery favors local raw materials and traditional techniques, enhancing the territory through each beer produced. Every label tells a story, often inspired by the natural and cultural wonders of the region, and the recipes themselves are often enriched with typical products of the area.
Among the flagship beers are:
- Erdonea: a Weissbier with a German character, featuring hints of banana and a light herbal aroma given by German hops.
- Magistrale: an elegant Munich Helles, enriched with wildflower honey from the Sannio Farm in Benevento, balancing sweetness and bitterness.
- Origlio: a red American Pale Ale with fruity and floral notes from Citra, Ekuanot, and Mosaic hops, with a slightly caramelized aftertaste.
- Si Può Fare!: an innovative Wheat IPA that combines the freshness of wheat malts with vibrant citrus notes typical of American hops.
- Session IPA-IPA: characterized by a fresh and fruity profile thanks to the generous presence of selected hops.
- Wendy: a non-alcoholic craft beer, designed for those who desire taste and lightness without giving up the authentic flavor of beer.
Akudunniad also offers highly original seasonal beers, such as the Italian Grape Ale (IGA), which blend brewing techniques with local wine excellence through the use of fine grape musts from local wineries. This combination creates a truly unique tasting experience, balancing between brewing tradition and oenological richness.
The brewery is open to the public from Monday to Saturday, offering the opportunity to visit the premises, participate in tastings, and purchase products directly. For those who cannot travel, there is also an online shop service through which Akudunniad beers can be enjoyed comfortably at home.
Akudunniad thus represents a virtuous example of how dedication and love for one’s territory can be translated into quality products that tell stories of culture, innovation, and Italian craftsmanship.
