La Mata Brewery: Craftsmanship Excellence in the Heart of Romagna
La Mata Brewery, located in Solarolo, in the province of Ravenna, is a distinctive symbol of Italian craft beer. Founded in 2010 by Marco Tamba, this brewery was born out of the passion of a taste artisan who chose to settle in a traditional Romagna barn immersed in the countryside, just a few kilometers from Faenza. This choice is not only aesthetic but represents a true connection to the territory, where nature and agricultural work blend to create an authentic and superior quality beer.
The uniqueness of La Mata Brewery lies precisely in the possibility to cultivate the raw materials directly. Marco Tamba oversees every stage, from the cultivation of cereals to the hop harvest, thus ensuring complete control over the production chain. This approach guarantees a genuine final product, with a unique character strongly linked to local agricultural traditions.
A Strong Identity and a Versatile Range of Beers
The name La Mata comes from the combination of the first two letters of the founder’s first and last names, but with a deeper meaning: in the Romagna dialect, 'la matta' is the wild card in the game '7 and a half,' capable of assuming any value. This concept symbolizes the versatility and innovation reflected in the beers produced. The logo, which features the 2 of clubs — the wild card itself — emphasizes this link between tradition and creativity.
La Mata’s production ranges from classic styles to modern reinterpretations, offering a variety that satisfies even the most demanding palates. Among the most appreciated beers are:
- Slip: a fresh and balanced Pilsner, perfect for any occasion.
- Polpa: an intense American Pale Ale, rich with citrusy and resinous notes.
- Franz: a Vienna Lager with a smooth and malty character.
- Bisa: a full-bodied and enveloping Stout, ideal for lovers of dark beers.
- MyAle: an India Pale Ale with a complex and assertive aromatic profile.
A true flagship is the 100% beer, a clear top-fermented beer produced exclusively with hops and malts grown on the farm. This beer represents the highest commitment to the agricultural supply chain and sustainability, an added value particularly appreciated in the craft beer sector.
The brewery is not just a production site but a gathering place for the local community: special events related to hop harvesting and annual festivals are organized, directly involving visitors and offering an immersive experience in the production process. Furthermore, their shop allows for purchasing all their products and participating in guided tastings, thus discovering the quality and variety of craft beers made with passion and respect for the Romagna territory.
