Founded in 2018 by Maria Pia Leone and Carlos Vasquez, the brewery is the result of a journey made of shared passions and cultural influences that start from America and return to Sicilian roots.
Maria Pia and Carlos met in California, immersed in the atmosphere of a winery, where the discovery of craft beer sparked in them a genuine enthusiasm for this beverage. After experimenting with home-made production and visiting numerous breweries, they decided to bring this new passion back to Sicily, realizing the dream of opening a brewery capable of telling stories and traditions through every bottle.
Picara’s identity: between art, resilience, and authentic flavors
The name 'Picara' comes from the encounter with Artemisia, a blind cat who became a symbol of strength and determination. Artemisia embodies the ability to overcome adversity with serenity, a value that pervades the brewery and is reflected in the logo image. This spirit of resilience translates into Picara’s beers, characterized by a balance between aromas, flavors, and brewing techniques.
The brewery, located in Contrada Gorgazzo in Salemi, offers a complete experience that goes beyond mere production.
