La Buttiga: the Heart of the Craft Microbrewery in Piacenza
In the heart of Piacenza, at Via Mafalda di Savoia 41, La Buttiga was born, a craft microbrewery that since 2011 has distinguished itself by producing high-quality beers, the result of deep passion and constant commitment. The name itself, which in the Piacenza dialect means 'the shop', evokes the image of an authentic place where beer is not only brewed but also shared with the local community.
The atmosphere of La Buttiga is even more evocative when considering its roots: the brewery is located inside a 15th-century courtyard, originally a stable once dedicated to breeding bulls. This historical bond with the territory is symbolically represented in the logo, which features a bull, an emblem of strength, tenacity, and tradition.
In 2013, the brewery expanded its production capacity by installing a 12-hectoliter system, thereby allowing for greater variety and experimentation. Among the most interesting projects is the 'Barrel Aged' beer line, which adds complexity and character to an already rich and quality offering.
The Beers of La Buttiga: Tradition and Innovation in Every Sip
La Buttiga’s production is characterized by a wide and varied range, where each style tells a story and offers a unique tasting experience. Among the most appreciated offerings are both classic styles and more innovative productions, with names that reflect the creativity and personality of the brewery. Here are some of the most representative beers:
- Polka (Blond Ale): fresh and delicate, perfect for those who love light and aromatic beers
- Borgata (Bitter Ale): a tribute to British brewing traditions with a decisive character
- Sognodoro (American Pale Ale): with a citrusy and bitter profile, ideal for IPA enthusiasts
- Sophia (Stout): intense and smooth, with notes of coffee and chocolate
- Psychoipa (Double IPA): powerful and structured, for those seeking a hop explosion
- La Poderosa (Barley Wine): rich and complex, to be savored slowly
- Barrel Aged beers such as Blackberry Show (Fruit Sour) and Warriors Trip (Tripel Barrel Aged), expressions of a quest for balance and maturation through barrel aging
Besides the quality of its beers, La Buttiga has also gained appreciation for creating spaces dedicated to the public. Its first pub, the Beer Room, opened in Milan in 2016 at Via Paolo Sarpi 64, followed by a second opening in 2019 at Via Melchiorre Gioia 194. These venues, characterized by a welcoming and informal atmosphere, have become true landmarks for craft beer lovers, who can taste the beers straight from the source and participate in exclusive events and tastings.
The growth of La Buttiga tells the story of an authentic project, capable of linking tradition and innovation, territory and experimentation, with the goal of offering beers that speak not only of flavors but also of values and passion.
