La Luppolaia: the agricultural microbrewery in the heart of Valtiberina

In the picturesque setting of the Tuscan Valtiberina, in Caprese Michelangelo, lies La Luppolaia, an agricultural brewery founded in 2015 thanks to the passion and dedication of Elena Brogialdi. The element that makes this venture particularly unique is the crystal-clear water coming from the Monte Faggeta spring, a precious and natural resource that represents the true soul of the craft beers produced here.

The commitment to quality starts right from the source, with the cultivation of self-produced two-row barley. Elena and her team use traditional methods, handed down over time, to ensure an excellent and sustainable raw material, in perfect harmony with the territory and surrounding nature.

Craft beers, tradition, and sustainability

La Luppolaia’s production stands out for the meeting of international brewing traditions with local ingredients. The recipes range from styles inspired by Belgian, British, and American influences, to truly original and genuine creations thanks to the use of local products, such as chestnut honey.

Among the most renowned creations:

  • Chestnut Honey Beer: a double malt with a strong character and 6.2% alcohol, releasing a unique floral bouquet, balanced between sweetness and bitterness.
  • Various types of craft beers combining tradition and innovation.

The value and quality of La Luppolaia’s beers have been recognized by prestigious awards, such as first place at the 2016 Premio Cerevisia in the 'New Breweries' category and second place at the 2018 Best Italian Beer, confirming the brewery’s ability to excite and conquer discerning palates.

Sustainability is another fundamental pillar for this production reality: the energy used is renewable, significantly reducing environmental impact. Annual production is around 30,000 liters, with a brewing room capacity of 500 liters and a cellar able to hold up to 2,000 liters.

Visiting La Luppolaia means immersing yourself in an authentic experience, made of passion, respect for the land, and artisanal quality. It is possible to book guided tours with tastings directly at the brewery, where Elena and her team welcome beer enthusiasts in a familiar and carefully maintained environment. Every bottle thus tells the story of Valtiberina and the truest Tuscany, encapsulated in a production made with attention and love for their work.
