Iris Birra: Craftsmanship Excellence in the Heart of Cilento
Nestled in the stunning setting of the Cilento National Park, in Palinuro, the microbrewery Iris Birra represents a benchmark of excellence in Italian craft beer production. Founded in 2005 by Salvatore Oricchio, a passionate homebrewer since 1998, Iris Birra was born from a decade-long experience rooted in the 1990s, shaped by travels and in-depth studies of European brewing traditions.
Salvatore’s training was a journey through the beer capitals: from Bruges, where he learned the production techniques of Belgian beers, to Prague, to discover the secrets of Bohemian Pilsner. These influences still enrich the unique character of Iris beers, produced with artisanal methods and carefully selected ingredients in a picturesque olive grove overlooking the sea.
An Authentic Experience of Taste and Nature
Located at Via Trivento 49, the brewery offers an ideal natural environment where the passion for beer blends with the territory and tradition. The range offered is varied and surprising, able to win over even the most discerning palates. Among the flagship beers are:
- Iris Pils: a clear Bohemian Pilsner with a matte straw color, perfect for those who love freshness and balance.
- Terry: a red Belgian Specialty Ale, with a delicate caramel aftertaste.
- Castagnola: characterized by the unmistakable aroma of chestnut, a beer born within the brewery itself.
- Habanero: an amber beer flavored with Calabrian Habanero chili, for those seeking intense and spicy flavors.
- Estrema Unzione: a Belgian Strong Dark Ale with double malt and an alcohol content of 7.5%, rich and full-bodied.
- Cioccolella: a top-fermented beer with a hint of chocolate flavor, for an extraordinary tasting experience.
Attention to quality results in a final product that preserves its organoleptic properties intact, thanks to a rigorous selection of raw materials and artisanal production methods that respect tradition.
Hospitality is another distinctive feature of Iris Birra: the brewery has a refreshment area where it is possible to taste each beer accompanied by local cured meats and cheeses, thus immersing oneself in a complete food and wine experience. During the summer, the 'beer fountain,' handcrafted in the rock, offers unique moments of conviviality, with fresh beer always available and, on certain occasions, even free for visitors.
Enthusiasts can purchase the beers directly on site, choosing from 24-pack cases of 33 cl bottles, sets of 3 beers in 50 cl bottles, or 75 cl bottles, perfect for those wishing to take home a piece of Cilento and its brewing tradition.
Iris Birra is not just a quality craft production but a true meeting place and beer culture hub, capable of best representing the richness and variety of Italian beer art in the natural and authentic context of Cilento.
