Luppolajo Farmhouse Brewery: Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of Castel Goffredo
Luppolajo is a craft brewery that stands out in the Italian microbrewery scene for its deep connection to the territory and the quality of its raw materials. Located in Castel Goffredo, in the province of Mantua, it was established in 2012 as a natural evolution of a family farm, driven by the passion of Enrico Treccani. Here, brewing is intertwined with agriculture, giving life to beers that carry the authenticity and flavors of the area.
The name Luppolajo comes from a nineteenth-century term that referred to the hop field, the core of the brewery's production philosophy: starting from the work in the fields to create genuine beers rooted in the territory. The company cultivates barley, wheat, and oats directly on its own land, used to produce high-quality malts, fundamental to obtaining beers with a unique character. When climatic conditions allow, hops are also grown, a precious element that completes the production cycle with entirely local and sustainable ingredients.
Production Lines and the Tap Room: A Complete Experience
Luppolajo’s production is divided into three main beer lines, designed to satisfy different tastes and occasions:
- Stranger Line: dedicated to beers with heavy hopping and innovative styles, perfect for those seeking bold and experimental flavors.
- Table Top Line: designed for the hospitality sector, with bottled beers created to enhance and accompany typical dishes, from trattorias to fine dining restaurants.
- Cellar Line: includes more refined beers, often aged in wooden barrels, that highlight aromatic complexity and high-level organoleptic characteristics.
At the premises on Strada Carpenedolo 13 is Luppolajo's Tap Room, a place where you can taste these beers directly at the source, paired with dishes prepared using ingredients from local farms. The kitchen is distinguished by the exclusive use of wood-fired ovens for cooking meat, delivering intense and authentic flavors. Throughout the year, themed events and evenings are organized, making the Tap Room a reference point for craft beer enthusiasts and good cuisine.
Luppolajo is also a concrete example of environmental awareness and social responsibility: the brewery uses a 20 kW photovoltaic system that covers the energy needs of production. Additionally, through collaborations with local social organizations, such as the cooperative Bucaneve ONLUS, it promotes inclusion projects, involving young people with disabilities in the creation of labels for the Christmas beers.
With an annual production exceeding 1,000 hectoliters, Luppolajo confirms itself as a benchmark in the Italian beer scene, where passion for the product and love for the territory combine to create beers with character, authenticity, and appeal.
