La Vallescura: an agricultural and brewing excellence in the heart of Val Luretta
La Vallescura is an organic farm located in Piozzano, in the picturesque setting of Val Luretta, in the province of Piacenza. Founded in 1985 by Giovanna and Mauro, the farm extends over 45 hectares, cultivated according to principles of sustainability and respect for the environment. Attention to quality and a short supply chain represent the beating heart of this reality, which over the years has been able to innovate without betraying its roots.
In 2007, their children Daniele, Valeria, and Giacomo launched a new project, introducing the production of craft beer. A decisive step that led La Vallescura to become in 2008 the first brewery in Italy capable of fully closing the production cycle internally, thanks to the installation of a privately owned micro-malthouse. This choice allows the use of barley grown directly on the farm’s land and malted on-site, thus ensuring superior quality and total control over the raw material. The pure water from the Piacenza Apennines springs completes the excellent supply chain, giving life to beers with an authentic character deeply rooted in the territory.
Quality beers and experiential tourism
La Vallescura’s beer production stands out for a wide range of styles, spanning from the most traditional interpretations to innovative creations such as the Italian Grape Ale (IGA), a unique product made with must from sweet Malvasia grapes from the valley. Furthermore, in 2022 the farm inaugurated its own hop field, a further sign of commitment to productive self-sufficiency and the value of sustainability.
Not only beer: La Vallescura also offers a welcoming agritourism experience, where it is possible to taste typical Piacenza dishes, including:
- Tortelli with tail
- Pisarei e fasö
- Grilled suckling pig
These specialties are expertly paired with the house craft beers, creating a perfect combination of authentic and genuine flavors. The agritourism, open by reservation, features large outdoor spaces for children and convenient parking, ideal for families and groups.
La Vallescura also stands out as a center for environmental education, thanks to educational paths aimed at visitors and schools. The main focuses include the visit to the hop field, discovering the beer production process, and exploring the suggestive local badlands. These direct experiences allow a full understanding of sustainable farming practices and the artisanal philosophy that drives the farm.
Through this synergy between organic farming, craft brewing, and responsible tourism, La Vallescura promotes an innovative rural development model rooted in the territory, capable of enhancing local traditions and offering a high-quality Italian product.
