Elav Independent Brewery: Craft Excellence from the Heart of Bergamo
Located in Comun Nuovo, in the province of Bergamo, Elav Independent Brewery is an entity that embodies the authenticity and passion of Italian craft beer. Founded in 2010 by Antonio Terzi and Valentina Ardemagni, Elav stands out for its meticulous attention to quality and innovation, quickly earning the respect and affection of enthusiasts in the sector.
Philosophy and Production: Between Tradition and Innovation
At the core of Elav’s work are three fundamental values: work, experiment, and know. These principles guide every stage of the production process, from the selection of raw materials to bottling, creating unique beers that reflect constant research and artisanal care. Independence is perceived as an essential element to express creativity and the freedom to experiment, allowing the brewery to explore new horizons in the brewing world.
Over the years, Elav has managed to grow without ever giving up a hands-on approach attentive to details. Current production reaches about 6,000 hectoliters annually thanks to a 20-hectoliter system and a cellar of 680 hectoliters. In 2014, the introduction of a new 2,000-liter manual system marked an important milestone, consolidating the “Homo Faber” philosophy that values artisanal work as the company’s beating heart.
Quality, Sustainability, and Connection to the Territory
Elav Brewery has been repeatedly awarded for the excellence of its beers, including two consecutive recognitions with Slow Food’s “Chiocciola.” This prestigious honor highlights Elav’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and the enhancement of the Bergamo territory.
Elav goes beyond simple beer production, promoting cultural and social initiatives that encourage the spread of craft beer culture and environmental protection. In 2014, Società Agricola Elav was founded, a true zero-kilometer supply chain that directly cultivates hops, barley, and aromatic plants, thus ensuring high-quality raw materials and renewing the connection with the local territory.
At the same time, the non-profit association Elav Kairòs pursues environmental conservation and green regeneration projects, such as planting a 5,000-square-meter forest and creating a permaculture garden next to the historic Cascina Elav, a building dating back to the 1200s that tells the story and roots of the area.
