Birra Puddu: Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of Sardinia
In the picturesque village of Santa Giusta, among the beauties of Sardinia, Birra Puddu was born, a craft brewery that carries forward a story made of passion and connection to the land. Originally founded in 1962, this historic brand was skillfully relaunched in 2021 by three friends â Mauro Fanari, Fabio Porcu, and Giuseppe Carrus â united by the goal of creating beers of excellent quality, capable of conveying the authenticity of Sardinian culture with every sip.
Located at Via Giovanni XXIII, 5, in the heart of a medieval village overlooking the southwestern coast of the island, Birra Puddu still preserves a completely manual artisanal production process. The brewhouse, equipped with two vats with a capacity of 10 hectoliters per batch, allows the brewers to carefully oversee every stage, thus maintaining the quality and identity of the beers intact.
The Beers of Birra Puddu: A Heritage of Flavors and Traditions
The range of beers signed Puddu stands out for variety and character, with offerings that pay homage both to European tradition and Sardinian raw materials. Among the main ones are:
- Golden Ale: clear and light, with Pilsner malt and East Kent Golding and Citra hops, for a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness.
- IPA: amber and full of aroma, powerful and rich in nuances.
- Porter: intense and dark, English style, with roasted brown malt and East Kent Golding hops, internationally awarded.
- Saison: made with trigu de oro, Sardinian wheat, able to offer a fruity aroma and a dry finish.
- Bitter: amber and bright, ideal for those who love bold yet refined flavors.
- Golden Zen: golden, with hints of malt and yellow-fleshed fruit that enhance its delicacy.
Among the most interesting novelties stands out PerMÊ, a light beer with only 1.6% alcohol, gluten-free and unfiltered, designed to be accessible and at the same time surprising thanks to notes of peach, mango, and a hint of almond that make it unique in its kind.
Next to production, Casa Birra Puddu is the taproom where enthusiasts can taste fresh beers directly, immersing themselves in a convivial and authentic atmosphere. Here you can savor a selection of typical food and wine products, such as local cured meats and cheeses, all with a privileged view of the pulsating heart of the brewery.
