Terre a Sud Est: the Heart of Craft Beer in the Val di Noto
In the picturesque territory of Val di Noto, among green hills and golden sandy beaches, lies the craft brewery Terre a Sud Est, a reality that has won over enthusiasts and connoisseurs with its superior quality beers. Located in Niscemi, Sicily, this brewery began as a beerfirm in 2014 and then took an important leap forward in 2022 with the opening of its own production facility, marking a fundamental milestone in its growth and independence.
The company is housed inside an ancient farmhouse in the area called Conca d’Oro, a place that, with its stone arches and rustic atmosphere, tells the story and local traditions. Nearby, the natural spring Fonte Apa inspired the brewery’s name, emphasizing the strong connection to the territory and the desire to enhance the authentic resources of Sicilian land.
Craft Beers Expressing Sicily and Innovation
Terre a Sud Est stands out for a beer range that blends tradition and innovation, offering products capable of telling Sicilian culture with every sip. The beers are designed to turn craft beer into an everyday habit, bringing forward flavors born from local ingredients and careful, refined production techniques.
Among the most iconic creations are:
- Machalda: a heavily hopped American Pale Ale with 'Cascade' hops, offering citrus aromas and tropical notes.
- Gammazita: a Golden Ale with a bright color and a fresh, thirst-quenching spirit, perfect for warm summer evenings.
- Capinera: a Black India Pale Ale combining the roasted malts typical of Stouts with the intensity of hops typical of IPAs.
- Damarete: a New England IPA, hazy and juicy, with a bouquet of citrus and fruity aromas that enhance the style.
The brewery is managed by a passionate team led by Gaetano Ferrera and Marco Brullo, who personally oversee every stage of production and recipe definition. This artisanal care is reflected in a production capacity of 6 hectoliters per batch, with a cellar that can hold up to 50 hectoliters. The entire operation aims for an annual production of about 700 hectoliters, a figure that combines quality and craftsmanship without sacrificing the product’s identity.
Terre a Sud Est is not just a brewery but a project born and growing in synergy with the nature, history, and people of Sicily, uniting passion, territory, and innovation in every bottle.
