Podere Fatucchio: the heart of Tuscan farmhouse beer
In the enchanting setting of the Casentinesi Forests, in the province of Arezzo, lies Podere Fatucchio, a farmhouse brewery born in 2022 from the passion of Neri Garigliani and Chiara Anzalone. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of city life in Florence, the two friends chose to restore an ancient 18th-century farmhouse and transform it into a place where brewing art meets sustainable agriculture and love for nature.
Podere Fatucchio’s goal is clear: to produce beer using exclusively self-produced raw materials, thus enhancing the short supply chain and the surrounding territory. The estate is not only a brewery but a true rural ecosystem that houses farm animals – chickens, goats, a donkey, and a horse – making the visit experience unique and immersive.
Craft beers with an authentic and traditional flavor
Podere Fatucchio’s production is a journey through traditional brewing styles and innovations connected to the territory. It starts with beers inspired by Belgian farmhouse styles, such as Saison, Blonde Ale, and Blanche, characterized by utmost attention to the quality of the raw materials. After gaining experience in Anglo-Saxon pubs and breweries, Neri and Chiara also introduced typical English styles such as English IPA, Bitter, and Stout.
One of the brewery’s strengths is the exclusive use of the estate’s spring water, characterized by hardness perfectly suited to brewing without the addition of additives. This element, together with the darker self-produced malts, allows achieving an optimal pH for mashing, a fundamental factor for beer yield and final taste.
The product range is further enriched with hoppier beers, such as the American Pale Ale, and the Golden Ale, a simple and easy-drinking beer, perfect for all seasons thanks to the use of internally produced malt. During late spring, the brewery also offers a special Saison flavored with elderflowers gathered on the estate, a true tribute to seasonality and the surrounding nature.
Production takes place in a 250-liter brewhouse, with an annual capacity of about 40,000 liters. The bottle refermentation technique maintains a living connection to brewing tradition, while in the future the adoption of an isobaric line is planned to ensure the highest quality for the most delicate and hoppy beers.
An experience of taste and nature
The brewery is not only about production: the taproom, created from the ancient barn, offers a warm and convivial atmosphere inspired by pub culture. Here it is possible to taste beers on tap and in bottles paired with local typical products and the famous Tortello alla Lastra di Corezzo. In the summer months, the beer garden with a view of the Apennines becomes the ideal place to enjoy a moment of relaxation surrounded by nature.
For those looking for something special, Podere Fatucchio organizes unique events such as “A Beer Among the Fireflies” and “Beer & Roars in Vallesanta,” which combine craft beer tasting with walks in the Casentinesi Forests National Park, offering you an authentic experience made of nature, tradition, and passion.
