La Castellana Brewery: Craft Passion in the Heart of the Marche

In the picturesque medieval village of Serra Sant'Abbondio, at the foot of Monte Catria, La Castellana Brewery was born, a symbol of authenticity, territory, and love for craft beer. Founded in 2014 by Jacopo and Ludovico, two young entrepreneurs driven by a strong passion for beer and a deep connection to their land, this microbrewery embodies the essence of local tradition. The brewery's name and identity refer to the Palio della Rocca di Serra Sant'Abbondio, a historic competition in which six castles compete in the famous goose race, an event that once again highlights the importance of roots and local culture.

La Castellana Brewery's production philosophy is based on a natural process that respects raw materials, without the addition of additives or pasteurization. The water used comes directly from Monte Catria, while the cereals employed are grown on the farm, giving each beer a unique and strongly territorial character that enhances its quality and identity.

La Castellana’s Specialties

The brewery offers a range of five craft beers, each with a well-defined personality and organoleptic characteristics that will captivate connoisseurs and those wishing to approach quality beer.

  • Leccia: a blonde Belgian Ale at 5.5% alcohol, fresh and lively, characterized by the use of American hops and the dry hopping technique, which imparts delicate floral and citrus aromas.

  • Sant'Honda: a Red Ale at 7% alcohol, full-bodied and enveloping, with a persistent foam. The malt gives notes of caramel and honey, while the yeast releases hints of slightly unripe red fruits. Excellent paired with meats, cold cuts, and aged cheeses.

  • Poggetto: a dark Brown Porter at 6% alcohol, exclusive and complex, with an initially creamy taste that evolves into aromas of licorice, coffee, and a touch of chocolate. The fresh and herbal notes of the hops complete the experience, leaving a sensation of cleanliness and freshness.

  • Campietro: a white Blanche at 4.7% alcohol, composed of 30% wheat and 70% barley malt. Light, spicy, and refreshing, enriched with orange peel and coriander seeds that enhance its aroma and provide a pleasant final spiciness.

  • Petrara: an amber IPA at 6% alcohol, intense and with a strong character, with bitterness balanced by five hop varieties that release citrusy, spicy, and herbal notes, highlighted by subtle mandarin hints.
