Decimoprimo Independent Small Brewery: Craft Passion in Trinitapoli
The Decimoprimo Independent Small Brewery has established itself as one of the most authentic and innovative realities in the Apulian craft beer scene. Founded in 2012 in Trinitapoli, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, this brewery stands out for producing unpasteurized, unfiltered beers that undergo bottle or keg refermentation, a clear sign of quality and attention to tradition.
The name 'Decimoprimo' has a symbolic meaning: at the time of its foundation, Apulia counted ten microbreweries and brewpubs. With the ambition to surpass itself and make a significant contribution to the region, Decimoprimo proudly positioned itself as the eleventh brewery in the region, symbolizing a new challenge in quality and production identity.
Tradition, Innovation, and Territory
The brewery is led by Michele Cognetti, a biologist and brewer, and his wife Patrizia, a psychologist. Both decided to invest in their own territory, giving up careers abroad, driven by a passion for craft beer and a desire to create a product that reflects Apulian culture and traditions.
Decimoprimoâs production is characterized by a refined balance between traditional European and American beer styles and the use of less conventional ingredients, such as fruit, spices, and special yeasts that give each beer its uniqueness.
Among their most successful beers are:
- Karibu (Cream Ale)
- D-Day (India Pale Ale)
- Jouissance (Belgian Ale)
- Sweet Noel (Christmas Ale)
- Wish Porter (Porter)
- Alma Dannata (Tripel)
- Via Andante (Saison)
- Supertramp (Fruit Ale)
In 2018, the Tap Room in Trinitapoli was opened, a space designed to experience beer culture in its entirety. The post-industrial design welcomes both classic products and the boldest experiments, thanks to an 11-line system. Here, tasting becomes a sensory experience often enriched by musical events, themed evenings, and food and wine collaborations with other craft breweries.
Decimoprimo is not just a brewery, but a meeting and sharing place where brewing tradition meets innovation, giving life to products that tell stories of dedication and love for the Apulian territory. An essential reference point for those seeking true craft beer in Southern Italy.
